If you are looking for a place to stay in Central Auckland, we have just the place for you! Our popular ‘family owned and operated’ Ellerslie motel is located right in the heart of Auckland. We are close to major attractions which are only a quick and easy drive via main arterial routes or State Highway 1. Alternatively you can catch a bus, train or taxi.

Auckland is a city full of life with many things to do. If you are new to Auckland, we recommend the following:

The Sky Tower. The Sky Tower is perhaps the most famous attraction in Auckland. It is a landmark 60-story building, the tallest building in New Zealand at 328 meters, and features panoramic views, bungee jumping & a high-end revolving restaurant among other attractions. This is a must see if you are in Auckland and want to see a piece of NZ history!

Auckland War Memorial Museum. The museum is one of New Zealand’s most important museums and war memorials. Its collections concentrate on New Zealand history, specific history of Auckland, natural history, and military history.

The museum is also one of the most iconic Auckland buildings, located right in the heart of the CBD at Auckland Domain, and is constructed in the neo-classicist style, sitting upon a grassed plinth with are the remains of a dormant volcano.

Kelly Tarlton’s Sea Life Aquarium. Kelly Tarlton’s is a popular public aquarium that was opened in 1985. It was built in underwater disused sewage storage tanks and the aquarium used a new form of acrylic shaping to be able to use curved tunnels rather than viewing areas with flat panels only. It’s a very popular destination for both tourists and locals alike, giving people the rare opportunity to observe sea life from underwater.

Aotea Square.
Aotea Square is a famous large paved public area in Auckland’s CBD, regularly used for open-air concerts, gatherings, markets and political rallies. It underwent a major redevelopment which was completed in November 2010. It was redesigned to accommodate use by crowds of up to 20,000 people. It is now a landmark of Auckland and a must see if you are in Auckland.
Along with these, there are many other attractions to check out while you are in town, such as the Harbour Bridge, MOTAT, Silo Park, Botanic Gardens and more. And while you’re staying with us, you are no more than 15 minutes away from most of them.
