Let’s look at what a lodge is and what a unit is and the main differences that there are between them. When you think of the word lodge in relation to accommodation you think of a ski lodge or a hunting lodge for example. It is normally a stand-alone building used in certain seasons for certain activities. A lodge can also be an Inn where people generally only stay for the night. The term or word lodge can also be a shelter, cabin or hut – it can mean many things but in this instance we will stick to the definition of it being a stand-alone building mainly used in connection with seasonal sporting activities.
A unit on the other hand is more of a room in a hotel or motel, like a bedroom in a house. It normally has an en-suite bathroom and a minimum of tea and coffee making facilities. These units can come in a range of different options from accommodating a single person, a couple, a twin share scenario or a family of four. Hotels have in-house restaurants whereas motels give the option of self-catering or dining out at various local restaurant’s and cafe’s. Greenlane Manor Motel has 23 units of which 20 are self-contained studios. Let’s look at what we have on offer and how our units can cater to business or corporate travelers, families and discerning couples or friends.
Our cheapest and most basic unit is our Standard Studio from $140.00 (incl GST). This is a lovely refurbished hotel styled studio with a queen bed, air conditioning, tea and coffee making facilities, microwave, toaster, fridge, flat screen TV, iron and ironing board. This room is perfect for a short stay and ideally suited for 1 person but can accommodate 2.
Then we go to our King Studio which is from $155.00 (incl GST). This is a self-contained unit with kitchenette, dining table and chairs, air-conditioning, underfloor heating, single spa bath, flat screen TV, stereo docking station, iron and ironing board. This unit also has the bonus of a separate conservatory area with seating.
Next up is the Deluxe King Studio from $160.00 (incl GST). This is the same as the King Studio but slightly larger and has a double spa bath. These units are all upstairs and have a private balcony instead of the conservatory area. A couple of these rooms can interconnect which give larger families or a group of friends the option of 2 King beds, 2 single beds and 2 bathrooms with an interconnecting door for togetherness.
Our Deluxe Twin Studio units have two queen beds and are perfect for business travelers on a twin share basis, friends or a family of four who are able to share the bed configuration. These units have the same self contained facilities as the Deluxe King and King Studio. These rooms are all downstairs and have a patio area with outside table and chairs. Two of these units are access rooms and therefore are suitable for those with limited mobility. They come with level entry shower areas and are complete with hand rails, showering chairs and direct access from the courtyard.
Greenlane Manor also provide a daily service, free unlimited wi-fi, free parking, free weekday newspaper and coin operated laundry facilities. We are also in walking distance to great cafe’s and restaurants and just a short drive from the many events, attractions and Auckland landmarks.
